Falling Away

The images you see in the “Falling Away” light painting series are about two years worth of effort and all completely unedited SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera) except for a crop on the vertical shots. For this series I shot 7 rolls of 35mm in total, over a two year period. Anytime there was a lightning storm I would run to the beach to shoot lightning strikes over the ocean. I then would rewind the roll of film and shoot the same roll again this time light painting the model in a dark space. Of the 7 rolls of films and all of those images there were about 20 or so that came close to what I had envisioned, and just a handful that you see here that I was happy with. All of my light paintings are created in real time and captured to the camera in one single photographic frame. There is no photo editing used to create anything you see in my images.

The inspiration for this light painting series was born out of me wondering what it might look like if we had supernatural sight and could see the fallen angles being cast down from heaven.
